Please join us for a lecture by Jame Pasto. The talk will focus on the research of Willam Foote Whyte, who did field work on Boston’s North End between 1936-1940, resulting in the 1943 publication of his sociological classic Street Corner Society. The talk will review his life and work and discuss what he found in the North End at that time. It will also discuss his many pages of field notes, letters, and photographs.
James Pasto was born and raised in Boston’s North End. He is a Master Lecturer at Boston University, where he teaches seminars on Boston’s North End and Cultural Anthropology. He is a co-founder of the North End Historical Society and editor of its journal.
